HRCH AKC/NSDTRC CH Redleaf Apache At Cinnstar CD SH RA WCX VCX

Apache is a Flash son and it shows! Just as wild and woolly, and dark red as his dad. He knows how to pour on the charm. It is difficult to get upset at him. But at 4 months of age he found his brain, and started playing with it. He was doing 80-yard retrieves on land to hand and suddenly decided to visit the gunners, or on water, shore early, even if it was out of his way. I had a decision, one I have not regretted since. I either had to put his field career on hold for two months until he was 6 months and could be force fetched and collar conditioned or I could start him gently at 4 months. I decided on the latter. At the 04 Toller National at 7 months of age, Apache was entered in the WC and passed. He delivered to hand and did a nice angle into/out of the water, never shoring on the far side, and coming right back to me at heel. Apache's resiliency as an older dog is evident by completing his HRCH title in 2015 at almost 11 years of age.

By 10 months of age Apache was accomplishing 300-yard complex singles. He is hard driving and an exciting retriever to work in the field. He earned his SH and WCX titles with little effort. Life happens and while I was taking care of my mom's estate and then moving, Apache as well as the other Cinnstar Retrievers training and testing was put on hold. Then disaster struck. Apache injured himself jumping into my dog box, putting his field career on hold for yet another year. He did compete in Rally, getting his RN and RA titles in 6 straight trials and placing in the ribbons on a couple of occasions. So in the Spring of 2015 at almost 11 years old, Apache completed his requirements for his HRCH title. While I plan to continue training him for his CDX in 2016, he is retired from the field, though I may do some flushing work which is less strenuous, and he gets a kick retrieving my decoys out of the ponds.

Apache is a good-sized Toller 19 1/2 inches, with strong straight front leg bones. He has nice angulation, a good forechest and a good strong topline. It is very difficult to find a Toller with correct proportions AND the amount of anglution and foschest with straight front leg bones Apache has! His rear from any vantage point is excellent. His movement before his accident was true coming, going and side. At the 2006 NSDTRC USA Nationals Apache was Winners Dog and Best of Winners, and was considered for Best of Breed! Apache then went on to finish his CH with two more four point majors. His first and only show weekend out as a Special he took a Group 4th Owner Handled!

Thank You so much Patty, Paul and Jeff Beran for using Flash with Jinger and giving me such a wonderful boy.

Apache was Cruelly Neglected by a Toller person who was supposed to be caring for him when Don and I were to go on our 20th Anniversary Celebration in July of 2019. His Neglect and actions/inactions (my Vet’s written statement) caused Apache’s death. I found out (after Apache died) that this person who “Boards" and “Trains” Sporting dogs Professionally, has No Facilities. NONE. I had heard him inform potential clients that the dogs are kept in a "Home Like Atmosphere". In Reality they spend 22-23 hours in Crates! No fenced-in area at ALL! Allows the dogs to act up and bark/scream Continually inside. Evidently has a Parvo condition as well, though accepts young dogs as clients AND has raised litters of puppies. All this information is from his Own Timeline, FB page and personal observation! Assured me Many times prior to leaving Apache with him that Apache would have a “Great Time!”, “No Concerns”. Apache was a Very Healthy 15 year old who was on an exercise program designed by our vet and myself. This Despicable individual allowed Apache in less than a day to get over-excited/overheat and caused him to go into seizures. This person cooked, ate dinner and watched TV while Apache suffered and condition deteriorated. Never Took Him to a Vet! Hours later I received a text, yes a TEXT about Apache’s condition. We picked Apache up (at a half way point) and whisked him to our vet. We did everything we could for him. Apache’s suffering and death was Horrible. I will Never be the same. A few days latter this man Tried to convince me (someone who has over 40 years with Sporting breeds) that Seizures are Common in Tollers, Boykins, and other sporting dogs to Justify his lack of concern and inaction! He then stood over me (I was seated and never spoke harshly or loud) in a crowded restaurant yelling and swearing at me. I was afraid he was going to physically attack me. This included insults and “F” bombs about Toller owners and NSDTRC (USA). I have a Legal Transcript of this assult.
